  7. WIN/NFS is The Wollongong Group's implementation of Sun Microsystems' Open
  8. Network Computing/Network File System (NFS).  It provides users with
  9. transparent access to files resident on other computers that support the NFS
  10. protocols.  Features supported include the following:  full kernel-level
  11. client and server capabilities; lock manager with user-level implementations
  12. of Remote Procedure Calls (RPC) and External Data representation (XDR) which
  13. interface to the transport level using Berkeley sockets (provided with
  14. WIN/TCP); kernel-level implementation accesses transport services through the
  15. AT&T-defined Transport Provider Interface (TPI); the RPC Portmapper is
  16. implemented in the kernel for speed and flexibility and is available to users
  17. through library calls; System Entry (SYSENT) emulation provides a flexible
  18. interface for user-space/kernel-space communication; and support for PC
  19. DOS-based clients through a daemon for user authentication, file locking, and
  20. print spooling.
