- NFS/Sun Microsystem Network File System
-
- WIN/NFS is The Wollongong Group's implementation of Sun Microsystems' Open
- Network Computing/Network File System (NFS). It provides users with
- transparent access to files resident on other computers that support the NFS
- protocols. Features supported include the following: full kernel-level
- client and server capabilities; lock manager with user-level implementations
- of Remote Procedure Calls (RPC) and External Data representation (XDR) which
- interface to the transport level using Berkeley sockets (provided with
- WIN/TCP); kernel-level implementation accesses transport services through the
- AT&T-defined Transport Provider Interface (TPI); the RPC Portmapper is
- implemented in the kernel for speed and flexibility and is available to users
- through library calls; System Entry (SYSENT) emulation provides a flexible
- interface for user-space/kernel-space communication; and support for PC
- DOS-based clients through a daemon for user authentication, file locking, and
- print spooling.
